Special Education in AUSD

"Special education" is instruction designed to address the educational, physical, social, and emotional needs of children with disabilities.


AUSD offers a wide range of educational services for young people aged 0-22 who have disabilities.

Special Education Strategic Planning Group

AUSD's Special Education Department has formed a Special Education Strategic Planning Group comprised of parent/guardians, teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and community members. The goal of the planning group is to create a comprehensive, three- to five-year plan for the delivery of special education services in the district.
