Message about the Incident at the Encinal High School Football Game on September 26, 2014
"At Friday night's varsity football game at Encinal High School, a fight broke out on the field. Members of both teams joined in the fighting, and members of both teams also left their respective benches to join in, causing a serious violation of California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) rules. Students were injured as a result. Both schools and both school districts are taking this issue very seriously. I want you all to know we are working with EHS staff to investigate what happened, determine what next steps need to be taken, and decide how we can best support the process of fair disciplinary investigation as we work to uphold athletic behavioral standards established under the CIF, our districts, and our schools.
"We will let you know what is decided as soon as possible. To ensure a fair outcome, I ask you to please honor this process by respecting the time and professional judgment EHS and AUSD staff require to address this difficult situation."
-- Interim Superintendent Sean McPhetridge, Ed.D.
Pools at both Encinal and Alameda High School are open again. And we have developed a new web page for the design and construction of the new competition pool at EHS. Take a look here!
Wood Middle School Field Lights
AUSD is working with the Alameda Little League to install four field lights on the Minor Field on the Wood Middle School campus. We have taken great steps to reduce the impact on the neighborhood and we welcome all comments as such. The public comment period on the Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) is August 28, 2014 - October 6, 2014. A hard copy version is also available in the lobby of the AUSD office. Please submit any comments on the IS/MND to: Dr. Robert Clark, Chief Business Officer, Alameda Unified School District, 2060 Challenger Drive, Alameda, California 94501 or email@example.com. For more information, see our Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities Department page.

We believe that our diverse community of students, given a rigorous academic program in an inclusive, safe and secure environment, will be prepared to be responsible citizens.
Our five year strategic plan (“AUSD Master Plan”) adopted in 2010 identifies eight core goals and strategies that have shaped the District’s work in recent years. Along with our Board’s guiding principles, that strategic work has produced many accomplishments and great progress that we intend to continue to build on in the future.
