Food & Nutrition Services

About Food & Nutrition Services

The Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) department is committed to providing every student daily access to a fresh, nutritious meal that meet State and Federal Guidelines.  AUSD’s FNS teams follow the USDA New Food Based Meal Pattern which calls for five components to be offered at lunch: meat/meat alternate, bread/grain, fruit, vegetable and milk-  to meet the nutritional needs of the minds and bodies of our students.

The AUSD FNS provides approximately 2000 elementary lunches and 1300 secondary lunches daily at all school sites. Breakfast is served at most school sites.

On this webpage families can apply for free and reduced meal prices, purchase meals and access nutritional information and check out the new menus for 2015-2016.

Student Health and Wellness Guide  While we’ve all heard the old adage that it’s important to exercise and eat our vegetables, it is especially relevant when it comes to maintaining student health. Healthy habits aren’t an option; they’re a requirement for academic performance. Poor diet and nutrition habits not only impact growth and development, but also cognitive ability. For students of all ages, substandard nutrition and lack of exercise can negatively affect the ability to learn.
