DISTRICT INFORMATION

Alameda Unified School District

Serving Alameda children since 1855, Alameda Unified School District became a "unified" district in 1936. AUSD works paden_kidshard to provide every student with a world-class education that strives for excellence and equity. AUSD serves the diverse educational needs of students from pre-school through high school, continuing on through adult education classes.
The Alameda Unified School District, serving almost 10,000 students, has a wide range of school offerings: a childhood development center, 10 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, an Early College High School and an adult school. We are a very diverse community of learners with a student population that is 34% Asian, 12% African American, 11% Latino, 31% white, 9% Filipino and 3% other.  Approximately 33% of students are English language learners, reflecting the richness of cultures represented in a city that is suburban with all the urban characteristics of the surrounding East Bay.

We are very proud of the high quality education our entire staff provides. U.S. News and World Report Magazine has recognized Alameda and Encinal High Schools as two of the top 1500 high schools in the nation. Our graduates are Merit Scholar recipients and go on to attend such diverse and excellent institutions as Harvard, Yale, Brown, Howard, Columbia and all University of California and California State University campuses, to name just a few.
If you would like more information on how to enroll your child in Alameda Unified School District, please visit our Enrollment Information page or call (510) 337-7072.
