When Your Child is Exposed to COVID-19
AUSD’s COVID-19 protocols comply with the Alameda County Public Health Department’s (ACPHD) guidelines for schools. Under those guidelines, students or staff who have been exposed to a positive COVID-19 case need to quarantine for 14 days. These Quarantine and Isolation Instructions will help you understand what this means.
ACPHD also recommends that you:
-
Contact your child’s healthcare provider
-
Consider getting your child tested for COVID-19 (usually 4-10 days after close contact with a positive case)
-
Share your child’s test results with your Health Office Assistant
Please note that students in quarantine cannot use AUSD’s testing sites. If you are unable to get a test through your child’s provider, you can find community testing sites here.
Students in quarantine need to stay in quarantine for a full 14 days after their last contact with the positive case, regardless of symptoms or negative test results.
